Certificate of Christian Ministries,
Biblical Worship Track

Purpose

The Certificate of Biblical Worship is a one-year program that is newly offered at Pacific Bible College and taught by Pastor Dan Bullis, B.M.Ed., of Grace Point Church.

This certificate is designed to be a launching pad for those desiring to serve in worship ministry, preparing you with the skills you need to lead effectively:

  • grounding in Scripture and theology
  • proficiency in voice, instruments, music theory
  • audio and tech fundamentals

Theologies & Practices

Students will learn:

  • an understanding of the theological purpose of worship.
  • the process of song selection and set development that is both theologically rich and congregationally engaging.
  • leadership principles such as the importance of setting a culture, casting clear vision and setting specific, measurable goals.
  • some of the joys and challenges associated with leading volunteers and navigating the difficult conversations that are often associated with worship ministry.

Music Theory &
Aural Skills

Learn the language of music—rhythm, notation, how chords are built, how they fit together. Classes cover standard chord chart symbols as well as the “Nashville” number system.

Students will also learn principles of vocal harmonization, playing by ear, and selecting songs and keys that are appropriate for individual voices.

Audio & Tech Fundamentals

Our tech class will focus on sound setup, signal flow, use of EQ and Compression and approach to mixing “Front of House”.

We will also cover ProPresenter for lyrics as well as basic aspects of some of the other software elements often used in contemporary worship such as use of in-ear monitor systems, click tracks, and MD/Talkback systems
